Chars Cafe is located 82-84 Belford St, Broadmeadow.

On COFFEE
I got my usual cappuccino, Wolf got one also which was really lovely, nice and smooth. To got her usual piccalo and said the same. Really lovely coffee. A1 and Le both got mixed berry smoothies which they really enjoyed. The smoothies were big and delicious. La was most impressed with her chai latte saying it was "the best she has ever had". Overall really happy with the coffee and drinks, an easy 8/10.

                        

On FOOD
Chars Cafe had a good combination of breakfast and brunch on their menu. I got the acai blended in a yogurt smoothie type consistency with muesli and coconut shavings on top from the super healthy menu. It was so delish, really want to go back there specifically for it. Also I got a delish blueberry bagel which I couldn't resist. To and La got similar breakfasts both having cherry tomato, avocado and rocket on sourdough, with To having scrambled eggs on hers. Both really enjoying their breakfasts. A1 & D2 and Le all got the egg and bacon burgers which were really generously sized. Wolf got the small pikelet sized pancakes with maple syrup, she said was good. All our breakfasts were a generous sized and really reasonably priced. A 9/10 for food from us.

       

On ATMOSPHERE
Chars Cafe had its own funky hipster theme, which I love. Awesome mix matched seating and funky old photographs of people. It had a really relaxed comfortable vibe about the place. A 5/5 from us.

 




BRUNCH BREAKDOWN
Chars Cafe had really lovely smooth coffee, exactly what you need in the morning. Smoothies were big and also fruity and delish. Food was extremely delish, generous servings and reasonably priced. We would highly recommend a visit to Chars Cafe, really enjoyed the relaxed hipster atmosphere, great coffee and great food. Overall Chars Cafe gets a rating of 22/25.

Cafe Inu

JaTo, La, A1 & D2, Le and Wolf on Cafe Inu.

Cafe Inu is located at 43 Denison St, Carrington, a cafe with a Japanese twist.

On COFFEE
I got the iced coffee as I felt something a bit sweeter. It was huge and exactly what I needed, twas delish. Wolf and D2 got cappuccinos which that rather enjoyed. To got her usual piccalo which was really nice. La got a chai latte which she enjoyed. A1 got a mixed berry smoothie which he really enjoyed. Overall the coffee and all the drinks were really nice and reasonably priced. A cappuccino being $3. Overall we give a rating of 8/10 for coffee.

On FOOD
I got the big breakfast. It had really big, fried eggs, really lovely bacon, little sausage, bread and fried lotus chips. The fried lotus chips were really nice and gave it a little Japanese flavour. To got the muesli with fruit and yogurt, which she said was very nice. Wolf, Le, D2 and A1 got egg and bacon rolls, which were huge! A1 also got a banana bread which he had to share with everyone because he was full from his bacon and egg roll. La got the most interesting breakfast egg, tomato, lettuce, sprout, with tofu and lotus chips on rice. She really enjoyed her unusual breakfast. All in all really affordable breakfast options with some Japanese flair 7/10 for food.
                      





On ATMOSPHERE
Really loved the atmosphere at Cafe Inu. Another warehouse turned cafe whose space is well used. Funky miss match furniture and cool potato sack art on the walls gave the cafe it's own unique flair. Easy 5/5 for atmosphere.

BRUNCH BREAKDOWN
The funky Cafe Inu in Carrington with Japanese flair has turned a warehouse into a really funky cafe. The coffee and beverages at really decent prices are lovely from their piccalos to their smoothies. The food is also very affordable, sizable and really lovely. Overall Cafe Inu gets a rating of 20/25.

Wickham Motorcycle Cafe

JaTo and La on Wickham Motorcycle Cafe,

Wickham Motorcycle Cafe is located 3 Throsby St, Wickham.

Sorry for the long wait in between blog posts! I've been really busy then I have been quite sick. I hope this post makes up for it!! Look forward to the regular blog posts again!

On COFFEE

I got my usual cappuccino which was really good, hit the spot. To got her usual piccalo which she said was also really good. Only due to our snob factor we concluded Wickham's coffee was really good but not the best of our snobbish tastes. Still a deserved quality 8/10.

On FOOD
Wickham Motorcycle Cafe had a really cool breakfast-style menu. Some of the names included: The Fuel Up, The Burnout, The Vespa and The Kickstart. But for more of a feel on what sort of breakfast menu to expect some of the delicious choices include: big breakfast, smashed avocado, museli and a scrambled eggs with thick toast with delish add on options. Ja and La were on the same wavelength and went straight for The Collision (smashed avocado with lemon, rocket and sourdough). It was really, really yummy! To got The Burnout (homemade baked beans with thick cut toast). She really enjoyed her breakfast and commented how delish the homemade beans were. Overall really lovely breakfast food an 8/10 for food.

On ATMOSPHERE

As the name suggests Wickham Motorcycle Cafe has a really cool hipster motorcycle theme/ atmosphere. Everything about the whole cafe is well thought and put together, even down to the menu names. They have transformed a big space into a balanced mixture of tables and chairs and racks filled with vintage motorbikes and scooters. Really awesome vibe coming from inside and out. Apart of the Cafe is a cute little clothes shop a must see! Easy 5/5 for atmosphere.

BRUNCH BREAKDOWN
Wickham Motorcycle Cafe has the cool funky hipster warehouse turned cafe down perfectly with it's motorcycle themed flair. The coffee is really good and a great breakfast menu with delish options. Overall we definitely recommend you try Wickham Motorcycle Cafe for breakfast. Overall rated 21/25.

Vincents Cafe

Ja, Juxx and RK on Vincents Cafe

Vincent's Cafe is attached to Coliseim Antique shop 116 Maitland Rd Islington.

On COFFEE
Vincent's coffee was really nice and smooth the way I like it. Juxx and RK really enjoyed their cappuccinos whereas I thought it was a little weak. I do like a strong coffee. That is the only fault I can give them. Really lovely coffee. Rating of 8/10.


On FOOD
RK and I couldn't go past the French Toast with bacon, ricotta and maple syrup. We both really enjoyed it. It wasn't in my top French Toast list however. Juxx got the banana bread with butter. She also really enjoyed her breakfast. Overall the food was good standard breakfast food but it wasn't great. Overall we gave them a food rating of 6/10.

On ATMOSPHERE
The waitstaff were really lovely and the whole place had a cool antique vibe. The antique shop attached added to the cool vibe of the place. A solid 4/5 for atmosphere from us.

BRUNCH BREAKDOWN
Overall we really enjoyed  our breakfast at Vincents Cafe. It was really good to try something different a totally different vibe. The decent sized breakfast menu and the breakfast itself was really good, not great. Coffee was really good and the atmosphere had its own funky charm. Overall a rating of 18/25.

Baked Uprising

Ja and La on Baked Uprising,

Baked Uprising is in Maryville, Corner of Downie and Hogue St.

On COFFEE
I got my usual cappuccino which was really nice. It was nice and smooth and a very good strength. Really enjoyed it! La didn't get anything to drink because unfortunately Baked Uprising doesn't have chai latte. So overall we must give baked uprising a 7/10 for coffee.

On FOOD
Baked uprising had some really lovely brunch style options. I couldn't resist how amazing the muffins looked so we got one to share. It was delish I wished I had room for another one! I tried and LOVED the quinoa porridge with coconut and caramelised coconut on top. Not a major lover of porridge but I tried it anyway and really enjoyed it. La got the muesli with yogurt and fresh fruits. She said it was really enjoyable and a recommend. Other options include fruit toast with anything extra, toasties and freshly baked croissants and pastries. If we didn't think it could get better I bought sourdough bread which I had for lunch and it was you guessed it amazing! A solid 9/10 rating for food.

On ATMOSPHERE
Baked Uprising had it's own funky hipster vibe. It is situated in a warehouse-type building which gives heaps of room for funkyness. Good use of space where it doesn't feel too big or too small, too cramped or too open. Only one small criticism there isn't enough seating! It gets so popular they should take advantage and put in more seating, especially outside, it is lovely there in the sun. Still have to give it a 5/5 though!

BRUNCH BREAKDOWN
Baked Uprising is the place to brunch, drink coffee and get your weeks bread and pastry. The deliciousness will have you coming back for more. Not only a place for brunch and coffee but somewhere to get your dose of breads and pastries. Overall rating of 21/25.

P.L.E.B.

JaTo on P.L.E.B. (Pleasant Little Espresso Bar)

P.L.E.B. is at 71 Union St Newcastle.

On COFFEE

I wasn't sure what to expect for coffee so I was pleasantly surprised when it was really good. I got a cappuccino which was really nice and smooth and a nice strength. To got a Piccalo. To's piccalo was quite big for a piccalo but it was still nice, strong smooth. Overall really nice coffee from P.L.E.B. Rating of 7/10.

On FOOD

A really big breakfast menu with some delicious food choices. I got the House Special which sounded quite plain, beef and cheese toastie. When I tried it I understood why it was the house special. The beef was marinated with something amazing and that with the melted cheese was MWAH! A definite recommend! To got the omelette. Her high omelette standards were satisfied. Pleasantly surprised with P.L.E.B. Rating on food of 8/10.

On ATMOSPHERE

P.L.E.B. had a really cool chic type of decor. I wouldn't call it hipster but a mix of 'random' decor which went well together to create a chic cool feel about the place. Not so much about the decor but the name in itself I thought was clever P.L.E.B.: Pleasant Little Espresso Bar, which it is. 5/5.

BRUNCH BREAKDOWN

Overall really enjoyed P.L.E.B. Good smooth coffee, with a large breakfast/brunch menu to cater for all and a cool chic vibe to relax in whilst drinking your coffee and eating your breakfast. Easy overall rating of 20/25.

Suspension

La, Ja and A1 on Suspension,

Suspension is located at 3 Beaumont St, just past the train track into Islington.

ON COFFEE

I got a cappuccino in a mug and it was mwah! It was smooth and strong, even in the giant cup! A1 got a large hot chocolate, which was up to his high standards. La wanted a chai latte, but they did not serve it so La tried her first ever coffee, a small cappuccino. A1 and I suggested she tried it with hazelnut or caramel syrup for a first time coffee drinker. Unfortunately they did not have any syrups either. They kindly offered honey for La's first cappuccino. La didn't mind it, but not her favourite, we will soon turn her! Overall the drinks were really good however they could opt to widen their drinks menu. Coffee rating of 8/10.

ON FOOD

Suspension had a more brunch style menu. Their menu was limited to toasties, muesli and bagels. So if you're just looking for a quick toasties or bagel with your cappuccino in the morning Suspension is the place to go. I got the bagel with honey, cinnamon and ricotta which was delicious. It was a good price but I needed more to fill my never-ended tummy. La got the spiced chickpea, spinach toasted wrap and yogurt which she sad was very yummy. She enjoyed the yogurt and spiced chickpea combination. A1 got the Big Breakfast Toastie. He really enjoyed it, however was left feeling like more. Overall Suspension has nice brunch food for the non-adventurous types. Food gets a 7/10 from us.

 ON ATMOSPHERE

We really enjoyed the atmosphere at Suspension. It has a relaxed grungy hipster vibe about it. The back courtyard was spacious filled with odd furniture, herb garden and overgrown plants. On the back walls are awesome murals which add to tcool hipster vibe. We felt the place had a 'kid friendly' atmosphere with toys for them to play with, even some in the trees. You don't feel imposed by the children playing because the space in the courtyard is so big. Great all-round atmosphere. An easy 5/5 atmosphere.

BRUNCH BREAKDOWN

You go to Suspension for the cool, relaxed, grungy atmosphere and stay for the smooth, strong coffee. There are some good brunch options for those who are feeling a bit peckish. Overall we enjoyed and recommend Suspension for awesome atmosphere and great coffee. Overall Suspension has a 20/25 rating from us!
